U.S. pop star Taylor Swift, boy band One Direction and British singer Adele were the highest paid musicians in the world this year, Forbes magazine said on Wednesday. With earnings of $170 million from touring, recordings, endorsements and other income, Swift, 26, earned the title of 2016's highest-paid musician. She pulled in a gross total of more than $200 million on the North American portion of her "1989" world tour.

Netflix allows subscribers to binge-watch shows offline

Video streaming pioneer Netflix Inc has added an option that allows subscribers to download shows at no additional cost on their mobile device to watch without an internet connection. Netflix signaled in recent months it would add an offline viewing option to better compete as the streaming video market becomes more and more crowded. Amazon.com Inc's rival streaming video service, Prime Video, has had this option for about a year.

Rapper Kanye West released from hospital: media reports

Rapper Kanye West was released from the hospital on Wednesday, according to media outlets citing unidentified sources, more than a week after he was admitted for exhaustion. CNN and the Los Angeles Times said West left the UCLA Medical Center. People magazine quoted an unidentified source as saying West was "home, getting some rest."

Selena Gomez becomes Instagram's most-followed celebrity

Selena Gomez overtook Taylor Swift as the most-followed celebrity on Instagram, as two of pop's leading women once again dominated the social networking site in 2016.
