WEB DESK: Due to the pressure from the Indian polictical party, MNS, and some Hindu extremists, Mahira Khan and Fawad Khan have been dropped out of Raees and Ae Dil Hai Mushkil respectively, Aaj News reported.

On Sunday evening, according to a DNA report that Mahira Khan has been dropped from Shah Rukh Khan’s film. Quoting an unnamed source, the report said, “It was a very painful decision for producer Ritesh Sidhwani to take. The pressure to replace her had been building up for months. It reached a crescendo after the Uri attacks.

"It came to a point where it became impossible to shoot with any Pakistani artiste. People suggested all kinds of solutions to the impasse, including shooting in Dubai. But it didn’t seem viable. Now, Mahira has unfortunately been relieved of her duties.”

According to a report in DNA, Anushka's character Alizeh Khan and Aishwarya's characters Saba Taliyar Khan have been shown as Pakistanis. Given the current political climate, Karan Johar may want to change the script a little and show them as coming from some other country.

Neither Karan nor Dharma Production has commented on the issue. It was even suggested that Fawad Khan's face may be turned into that of Saif Ali Khan in ADHM but sources had not confirmed the idea.

After the terror attack in Uri that killed 19 soldiers last month, the MNS had asked Pakistani artistes to leave India in 48 hours. The MNS has also said it won’t allow the release of Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Raees.

However, IMPPA has assured that films already completed will not be affected by the ban. Karan Johar, Salman Khan and Radhika Apte were among the few who strongly opposed the ban.
