Asghar Junejo expresses unity with labourers

KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister's Advisor for Labour Asghar Ali Junejo has expressed unity with the labourers in connection with the global Labour Day.
In a message, he said that on May 1, 1886, hard working labourers of Chicago changed the course of history by sacrificing their lives to achieve their rights, said a statement issued here by Sindh Employees Social Security Institution (SESSI) on Thursday.
"Today, there are comprehensive laws for the social and economic protection of labourers, which have been achieved after hard work of labourers", said Junejo.
He added that currently, there are many organizations in the province for the welfare of labourers including social security scheme, minimum wages board, industrial courts and others.
"Our democratic government has taken revolutionary steps for the betterment of labourers, among which a raise of salary from Rs 10 to 12,000 for non-skilled workers is also the step of our government", he added.
Junejo further said that the number of registered labourers is also increasing. He said that currently, 7,42,000 labourers are registered with social security scheme and more than 3,700,000 of their bereaved relations have been benefitted.
He appreciated the efforts and hard work of labourers and said that the labourers play a key role in the progress and development of industrial sector.
