KARACHI: The Government of Japan has extended a grant of US$ 1,20,120, approximately Rs 12 million, to Aman Health Care Services.

A statement here on Tuesday said that this grant has been extended by the Government of Japan, under its Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) scheme, with further contribution by Toyota Indus Motors of PKR 1.2 million.

The donated funds have enabled Aman Ambulance service to add two new "Advanced Life Support" (ALS) ambulances to its existing fleet of more than 100 ambulances. These new life-saving vehicles will be deployed in Bin Qasim Town, Karachi.

A special handover ceremony was held at the Aman Foundation premises in Karachi, where the Japanese Consul General personally donated the new ambulances to the Aman Foundation.

The ceremony was addressed by the Consul-General of Japan in Karachi, Akira Ouchi, Chief Executive Officer of Aman Health Care Services, Dr. Junaid Abdul Razzak, and CEO (Toyota) Indus Motor Co.Ltd., Parvez Ghias.

Speaking at the occasion, Dr. Junaid Razzak, CEO of Aman Health Services said, "Aman Ambulances are the ambulances in Karachi that have advanced life saving facilities onboard, and can provide triage services and have trained medical staff which can make the difference between life and death in emergency medical situations.

We have conducted 600,000 interventions since our inception, and have countless examples where lives have been saved. We encourage every citizen of Karachi and Pakistan to donate to help us reach our goal of replacing our fleet this year".

The grant contract was made official and signed in December 2013, between the Consul-General of Japan and the CEO of Aman Health Care Services, to further strengthen friendly relations between Japan and Pakistan.

Aman Foundation is a leading humanitarian organisation, established in Pakistan to provide Healthcare, Nutrition and Education to the underserved segments of the population.
