Turkish Prime Minister,Recep Tayyip Erdogan addressed the Pakistani parliament on Monday. The Turkish PM stated that his country would always support Pakistan with respect to economic development. He further stated that Pakistan and Turkey have always stood together to support each other and that “Pakistan would never be left alone in the war on terror”.

The joint sitting of the Parliament started under the headship of Speaker Fehmida Mirza took place on Monday during which the Turkish PM said that he was privileged to address the proceedings.

The Turkish PM was full of praise for the Pakistani parliament and stated that Pakistan’s Parliament had strong recognition within the world. He further added that Pakistan’s Parliament was playing a pivotal role towards the development of democracy within the country. “Democracy is not easily obtainable, democracy is the name of continuous efforts,” uttered the Turkish PM

“To strengthen democracy, economic support is really essential and for that Turkey would always support Pakistan” Erdogan said.

The Turkish PM added that Pakistan was fighting its difficulties bravely and would emerge as a winner.

During his speech, the Turk PM also mentioned the soldiers of the Gayari sector adding that he prayed for their survival.

The Turkish PM concluded his speech by showing his solidarity with Pakistan by stating in Urdu the friendship slogan, “Long live Pakistan-Turkey friendship”.

Following the Turkish PM's speech, Pakistani Prime Minister, Yousuf Raza Gilani, also addressed the joint sitting of the Parliament. PM Gilani welcomed his Turkish counterpart further stating that Turkey is a role model for all the Islamic countries. PM Gliani said friendship between the two countries would continue and prosper over the years to come.

"I appreciate the way Turkey has emerged as a modern country, retaining its culture," said Gilani. He added that reforms within Turkey's institution only became possible following democratic stability within the region.
