Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar has said that the prison sentences in the Toshakhana-II case against former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi will commence after the completion of their previous sentence related to the £190 million case.

In a statement on Saturday, Tarar said the 14-year sentence announced in the 190 million pound case will conclude first, after which the 17-year sentence in the Toshakhana-II case will begin.

He emphasised that the verdict in the Toshakhana-II case was based on the principles of justice, noting that gifts were valued at lower rates under fraudulent circumstances, causing financial losses to the state.

“The gifts were kept for personal use, depriving the state of millions of rupees. Bushra Bibi withheld the gifts and derived financial benefit,” he said, adding that the state suffered losses of approximately rs30 million and Rs70 million due to these actions.

Tarar further stated that in total, PTI chief Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi were sentenced to 10 years each on one charge, and 7 years each under Section 409 of the Pakistan Penal Code for fraud.

This brings the total sentence for both to 17 years each. Additionally, they were fined Rs16.4 million each.

The verdict in the Toshakhana-II case was delivered by Special Judge Central Shahrukh Arjumand at Adiala Jail, in the presence of Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi.
