SC charges Awan in contempt case
ISLAMABAD: A two-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) indicted Babar Awan on contempt of court charges on Thursday. Babar Awan on the other hand has pleaded not guilty and insisted that he had been wrongfully framed.
Justice Aijaz Afzal and Justice Athar Saeed were the two judges of the two- member bench hearing Awan's case. The bench concluded that the former law minister had earlier used scornful remarks against the apex court and a sitting judge.
The former law minister had earlier used insulting remarks against the apex court and stated wrongful comments about Justice Asif Saeed Khoa, a sitting SC judge, during a press conference on Dec 1.
Babar Awan stated that he was not guilty of the charge and that the SC should also carry out contempt proceedings against other politicians present during the Dec 1 press conference as well.
