Security tightened as Chehlum of Imam hussain tomorrow
As many as 6,000 police personnel are being deployed for the main Chehlum procession in the metropolis.
A police statement here on Saturday said that the deployment has
been by name.
It said that a meeting was held at the Central Police Office (CPO) on Saturday. The Additional IG Karachi, Akhtar Hussain Gorchani,
presided over.
The roads/streets leading to the route of the main Chehlum procession in Karachi, would be sealed tonight after completion of sweeping and clearance by bomb disposal squad and sniffer dogs. A rehearsal would also be carried out on Saturday.
Security deployment is being carried out in accordance with the inner and outer cordon.
For the main Chehlum procession in the metropolis 6,000 police personnel would be deployed whereas the overall deployment in the city
would be 30,000.
There would also be aerial surveillance of the route of the main procession as well as the sensitive areas in the city.
Crisis response teams have been set up and temporary crisis management cells established at Numaish Chowrangi, Mama Parsi School and Kharadar.
Fire brigade vehicles, ambulances, APCs and anti-riots platoons of 50 personnel each would also be on the alert to handle any unforeseen situation.
