Security forces killed 10 terrorists and wounded several others during an intelligence-based operation in Khuzdar, security sources said on Saturday.
The operation was conducted after reports of the presence of militants belonging to Fitna al Hindustan in the Shor Parod mountain range, according to the sources.
Security forces cordoned off several suspected militant hideouts and launched an operation. The terrorists were present in three small groups, the sources said.
An exchange of fire followed, resulting in the deaths of 10 terrorists and injuries to several others.
Following the operation, security forces intensified search and clearance activities in the area and launched a hunt for militants who managed to escape.
Security forces said operations would continue until the complete elimination of militants from the area.
President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the security forces for the successful operation against Fitna al Hindustan militants in the Shor Parod mountain range.
They said successful operations against terrorists demonstrated the professionalism and expertise of Pakistan’s security forces.
The leaders said the entire nation stood with the security forces in the fight against terrorism and praised their sacrifices and determination.
They reiterated that the sacrifices and resolve of the security forces were commendable and that the fight against terrorism would continue.
