PM Shehbaz Sharif chairs high-level security meeting

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif chaired a high-level meeting in Islamabad on Sunday to review regional and national security, the government said in a statement.

The meeting was attended by federal ministers, senior military officials, and heads of intelligence agencies. Participants reviewed the law and order situation across the country and Pakistan’s counter-offensive against Afghan Taliban attacks along the western border.

The statement said the officials “praised the effective and comprehensive operations taken by the Pakistan Army and Air Force to suppress the Fitna al-Khawarij” and reiterated their commitment to safeguard Pakistan’s integrity, sovereignty, and dignity.

Consultations were also held on foreign policy and national security, including a review of developments in Afghanistan.

Officials were briefed on the country’s internal situation and security arrangements and informed that the evacuation of Pakistani citizens from Iran via Azerbaijan is being facilitated.
