Karachi police have arrested a five-member gang involved in kidnappings and robberies while posing as law enforcement officers.
The operation was carried out in the Korangi area, and weapons were recovered from the suspects.
According to SSP Korangi, the arrested individuals have been identified as Ali Imran Sheikh, Waqar, Anil, Dheeraj, and Farzoq Shah.
Investigations revealed that the gang carried out a Rs16 million robbery in Zaman Town on January 6 while wearing official uniforms. In 2021, they allegedly fired shots at a temple and extorted Rs500,000.

The gang was also responsible for kidnapping businessman Salman Butt on August 8, 2024, detaining him unlawfully and extorting Rs1 million in ransom.
Additionally, they targeted an IT center owned by a Hindu businessman in 2024 and blackmailed another citizen, Shankar, for Rs200,000.
In November 2024, the suspects infiltrated a gaming shop in Chakra Goth, impersonating intelligence officers. They abducted an employee, Babar, and released him after a day.
SSP Korangi stated that the gang was planning a major heist in 2025 but was intercepted before they could execute their plan.
The suspects admitted that had they not been caught, they would have succeeded in their next crime.
