Pakistan Peoples Party leader Sharmila Farooqui has implied that her party was “open” to forming the next federal government amid “concerns” over the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz-led government.
“There is no doubt that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari is a prime ministerial candidate who is unblemished and has a tremendous following,” she said while appearing on the appearing on Spotlight with Munizae Jahangir which was aired on Aaj News.
She was responding to a question related to Independent Senator Faisal Vawda’s recent comment that the PML-N “is a bad brand.”
The former PTI leader also criticised the N-league while appearing on the Aaj News programme Rubaroo. “The inflation is very low and even if you are not able to market it, then I cannot say anything,” he said.
To substantiate her comment, the PPP leader praised Bilawal for leading the negotiation process for the passage of the 26th Constitutional Amendment and removing the contentious clauses. “He has a legacy and is a great candidate for the prime minister.”
When asked if the PPP was ready for a house change, Sharmila reiterated that the PPP chairman was the candidate for the country’s chief executive.
“If such matters occur or need comes for need change, then Bilawal is the candidate for prime minister,” she said and clarified that such a position does not mean that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was not working hard or not a good PM.
According to her, the premier was doing his best and had respect for him. But she highlighted that the Sindh-ruling party wanted him to deliver as the Federal Board of Revenue was not meeting its target and there were rumours of a mini-budget.

In response to a question, she acknowledged the party’s concerns related to Punjab were not resolved.
“We had a written agreement before the formation of the government, especially for Punjab, which has not been honoured. We have reservations related to Punjab. Our lawmakers complain that we have not been given space and the commitments made are being dishonoured,” the PPP lawmaker said.
Sharmila described it as “a cause of concern” for both sides of the party. “This is frustrating for us and definitely our members they have to honour as it is their duty.”
