Indian musician AR Rahman’s children have refuted rumours about their father’s music career post-divorce with wife Saira Banu 29 years of marriage.
“This is false,” Rahman and Banu’s son Ameen said in an Instagram post.
Last month, Rahman’s wife, Saira Banu, announced that she has decided to separate from her husband. A statement from her lawyer said that the decision was taken after “significant emotional strain” in their relationship.
The couple tied the knot on March 12, 1995, and they have two daughters, Khatija and Rahima, and a son, Ameen Rahman.
“Mrs Saira emphasised that she has taken this decision out of pain and agony. Mrs Saira requests privacy and understanding from the public during this challenging time, as she navigates this difficult chapter in her life,” the statement read.
He clarified that the Dil Se crooner was not taking a break and dismissed such news as “baseless.” Ameen also shared a screenshot of an article.
Their daughter Khatija Rahman also took to social media to address rumours suggesting that her father was taking a break from music. She clarified that such reports are “untrue” and urged the public to refrain from spreading such misinformation.
In her post, she expressed her frustration over the persistence of such reports, despite having previously addressed them on X, erstwhile Twitter. She emphasised that unfounded claims about her father’s career should not be disseminated without proper verification.
Dismissing a report from a media outlet that claimed to have credible sources, Khatija called on both the people and the media to stop propagating false narratives regarding her father’s professional life.
