The Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) has increased the fares of buses operating on the express route by Rs35, bringing the new price to Rs55 from Rs20.
“The decision to increase fares is to improve convenience for long-haul passengers,” the TransPeshawar, the Peshawar BRT’s operator, said in a statement on Tuesday.
According to the bus operator’s spokesperson, express routes are intended to facilitate long-haul travellers, but those travelling two to three stops are also using them, reducing space.
The flat routes are ER-09, ER-10, ER-12, and ER-16. The new rates would come into effect from Thursday, October 3.
Last month, the Peshawar BRT restored the University Express service on the ER-09 route with additional buses. The service would be available for male passengers only from Monday to Friday due to the extra rush of students.
