Pop superstar Taylor Swift has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential campaign following the intense debate with former President Donald Trump, praising the Democratic nominee as a “steady-handed, gifted leader.”
“I will be casting my vote for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in the 2024 Presidential Election,” Swift said in a post on Instagram.
“I’m voting for @kamalaharris because she fights for the rights and causes I believe need a warrior to champion them. I think she is a steady-handed, gifted leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we are led by calm and not chaos.”
In her statement, Swift urged her fans to register to vote.
“It really conjured up my fears around AI, and the dangers of spreading misinformation. It brought me to the conclusion that I need to be very transparent about my actual plans for this election as a voter.”
She concluded with the sign-off “Childless cat lady,” referencing remarks made by Republican vice-presidential candidate JD Vance. The accompanying picture showed Swift with her cat, Benjamin Button, one of her three cats.
In response to Taylor Swift’s endorsement of Kamala Harris, the Trump campaign dismissed it as evidence of the Democratic Party’s elitism.
Republican congressman Matt Gaetz expressed his preference for art from liberals and policies from conservatives. Meanwhile, Swift’s fanbase has been mobilizing for Harris, raising over $138,000 through the Swifties for Kamala Coalition.
Kamala’s running mate, Tim Walz, expressed gratitude for Taylor Swift’s endorsement, highlighting her courage as a fellow cat owner.
