All public and private educational institutions in Hyderabad would remain closed on Friday (tomorrow) because of monsoon rains, Hyderabad Deputy Commissioner Zainul Abideen Memon has said.
In a notification, the deputy commissioner said the decision has been made in light of the anticipated monsoon rains in the region. Authorities are taking precautionary measures to ensure the safety of students and staff during this weather event.
Hyderabad has experienced sporadic heavy rainfall, leading to water accumulation in low areas and on roads and electricity supply has been disrupted in many areas.
According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the rainfall would continue until August 31.
The authorities have also warned of flash floods in two districts of Sindh, which is still recovering from the massive floods of 2022 which inundated large swathes of the country and damaged the economy.
