Lahore’s accountability court has ruled in its detailed judgement, that the Ashiana-i-Iqbal Housing project did not lead to any losses for the public exchequer.
The court had cleared Shehbaz Sharif, Ahad Cheema, Fawad Hassan Fawad and others of all charges on Saturday.
The written order said that the charges levelled against the accused were ‘suspect’ and there was no chance of them being proven.
Ahad Cheema had asked the court for a re-investigation in 2022 and the supplementary report had failed to prove any charges.
The original case had accused Shehbaz of a cancelling a bid by Chaudhry Latif and Sons and instead handing over the project Lahore Casa developers at a higher rate.
Shehbaz had also been accused of handing over the project to the Lahore Development Authority, of which Ahad Cheema was chairman at the time, which eventually handed over the project to Lahore Casa.
The consultancy contract was also handed over to a company called Engineering Consultancy Services Punjab for Rs192 million when the actual cost was Rs35 million.
