PTI has protested against a food trade between Pakistan and Israel and demanded an explanation from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The demand from the PTI leader came in a tweet from senior leader Dr Shireen Mazari, where she shared a press release of an American Jewish Congress welcoming the trade between the two countries.
“So another covert agenda of regime change conspiracy being fulfilled and conspirators also learning from Netanyahu how to control SC. MoFA needs to explain how all this is happening when Pak does not recognise Israel. What other covert deals have been made as part of London Plan?” Mazari wrote on Twitter.
Fishel Ben Khald, who claimed to be a Pakistani Jewish citizen had managed to export Pakistani spices and dry fruits to Israel.
In a press release issued on March 30, the Jewish congress welcomed the small step and hoped it would bring wider implications for Israeli and Pakistani economies.
“In welcoming this development we recall the legacy of public diplomacy initiative 2005, – spearheaded by our President Jack Rossen, and in partnership with American Council of World Jewry – that culminated in diplomatic and economic breakthroughs at the time between Pakistan and Israel, two nations who do not have diplomatic ties yet but whose entrepreneurs and technologies have forged ahead in pursuit of common prosperity,” the statement read.
Earlier, Khald shared the video of Pakistan food items put on display at the local market on Twitter stating that he exported the first batch of Pakistan food products to the Israel market.
Sharing more details about the process, he wrote that it was due to very hard work.
Moreover, he said that three small Israeli customers were kind enough to accept samples and agreed on the price. “I met them multiple times at food and beverage exhibitions of Gulfood Dubai and Anuga Germany.”
Two in Jerusalem, other one in Haifa, he concluded.
When a Twitter user asked about the response he said that the quality of Pakistani food and beverage products is acceptable, but still, a lot needs to be done.
“Response from Israeli buyers is as usual of a businessman seeking a good product at an acceptable price.”
Moreover, he went on to add that the Israeli government and buyers have no problem buying and selling to Pakistan as long as the quality, quantity, and packaging are as per specification. And most importantly if the price is right. They will buy.
