Pakistan to respond firmly to India’s diplomatic actions and Indus Waters Treaty suspension
In response to India’s recent diplomatic measures against Pakistan and the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, Pakistan has decided to take a strong stance.
Sources indicate that diplomatic relations between the two nations may be further downgraded, with Indian defense attachés potentially facing expulsion from the country.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, along with national security agencies, is currently considering designating Indian defense, naval, and air force attachés as “undesirable persons” and expelling them.
This move aims to convey a clear message that Pakistan will not tolerate Indian aggression and diplomatic misconduct within the framework of international diplomatic laws.
Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri recently announced that the staff at both countries’ embassies would be reduced from 55 to 30, with the changes expected to be implemented by May 1.
In addition, Pakistan’s defense, naval, and air advisors have been labeled “undesirable persons” and ordered to leave within a week, prompting India to recall its military advisors from Islamabad in response.
Furthermore, Pakistan is seriously contemplating approaching the World Bank regarding the unilateral suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, which was established in 1960 under international arbitration and the supervision of the World Bank. India’s violation of this treaty is viewed as a breach of international law.
While the high commissions of both countries are not expected to be completely shut down, further reductions in diplomatic staff are anticipated on both sides. Although a complete severance of diplomatic relations is not currently expected, the relationship has reached a critically low point.
Important decisions are anticipated during an upcoming meeting of the National Security Committee (NSC) chaired by the Prime Minister.

Pakistan aims to respond decisively to India’s aggressive actions at the diplomatic level and to engage the international community.
This situation arises amid a wave of anti-Pakistan actions initiated by India, which appear to be aimed at gaining internal political advantage and destabilizing the region.
