Fans were left wondering why Priyanka Chopra dropped "Chopra Jonas" from her Twitter and Instagram accounts on Monday. Speculation was rife that the couple who married three years ago were headed for a divorce.

The internet was soon flooded with memes about the supposed break up.

Although it's still not been made clear why the Bollywood and Hollywood actor chose to drop husband Nick Jonas' name from her social media accounts, a friend of hers rubbished any rumors of a split, according to a story in India Today. They said Priyanka always breaks the internet.

The friend, who spoke on the condition of anonymity was quoted by the paper as saying: “These divorce rumours are all amusing. Priyanka is using her first name because she wants to use that in her future projects. There is no truth to any other speculation. Also, she’s not only dropped 'Jonas' but 'Chopra' as well on social media."

Not everyone seemed convinced.

The couple recently celebrated their first Diwali in their Encino home with celebrity guests like singer John Legend and Chrissy Teigen. They bought the house for $20m in 2019.

Chopra will next be seen on the big screen in The Matrix Resurrections next month.
