Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, on Monday, has said that 20 politicians, including JUI-F Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman, have serious life threats. He further added that an alert has been issued to all the politicians.

The interior minister, while addressing a press briefing in Islamabad, said that some of these politicians have also been targeted in the past and have serious life threats this time around. Sheikh Rasheed said that all potential targets have been informed about the posed threats and advised to take precautionary measures.

Rasheed also urged the opposition leaders to stay away from mass gatherings in view of a spike in COVID cases and call off their upcoming long-march to the capital, thus, refraining from endangering the lives of potential participants.

The interior minister also commented on the Pakistan Democratic Movement's (PDM) strategy saying that the opposition alliance will take part in the upcoming Senate elections. He further added that PDM leaders are trying to gain personal interest in the guise of the resistance movement.
