Change afoot in country: Nawaz

He claimed that the PML-N would implement its agenda with the cooperation of the masses for ensuring sovereignty of the country and a dignified status for Pakistan in the comity of nations.

"PML-N brought change to the country earlier and will do the same once again through its revolutionary approach. PML-N is capable to put the country on the road to progress and development," Mian Nawaz Sharif told a general council meeting of the Pakistan Muslim League-N Punjab at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.

Chief Minister Punjab Muhammadm Shahbaz Sharif, Chairman PML-N Raja Zafar-ul-Haq, Senator Ishaq Dar, Iqbal Zafar Jhagra, Syed Ghaus Ali Shah, Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Hamza Shahbaz Sharif, Ahsan Iqbal, members of national and provincial Assemblies, provincial ministers and members of PML-N Punjab council from all over the province, office bearers and a large number of workers of Muslim League were also present on the occasion.

Nawaz Sharif said that the workers who supported PML-N in the dictatorial era were a precious asset of the party. He congratulated Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif on his unopposed election as President PML-N and asked him to further accelerate the mission of public service.

He said that Punjab government had taken revolutionary measures for the uplift of education sector. He mentioned that the youth would benefit from programmes of setting up of IT labs in high schools and distribution of laptops among talented boy and girl students and would serve the country to make it reach to the heights of progress and development.

He said that services of Shahbaz Sharif for the people were today being acknowledged in Sindh, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as well.

PML-N President said that had the democratic process continued in the country and democratic governments had been allowed to complete their tenure, the situation in Pakistan would have been different.

Had the PML-N been given the opportunity to implement its development agenda, Pakistan would have been far ahead of other countries of the region, he observed.

He further said that there was no terrorism or extremism in Pakistan during the era of Muslim League-N and it was a peaceful and fast developing country.

He said that Pakistan was made a nuclear power in that era and this capability was achieved not with the borrowed money but with the hard earned money of people of Pakistan.

He said that Pakistan was proving its mettle in every sector during PML-N rule. He said that though sanctions were imposed on the country as a punishment for carrying out nuclear tests but PML-N leadership made a firm resolve to overcome all the problems and achieve the aim of progress and prosperity of the country.

Furthermore, he said, motorway was constructed through indigenous resources and industrial process was accelerated. PML-N has always promoted politics of principles and owing to its clean politics, a change will soon be witnessed in the country.

He said that those who raised slogans of electing Musharraf as president in uniform ten times have now joined hands with those who have got red warrants issued against him. These elements, he added, had also accused that Peoples Party was thirsty for their blood.

He said that such politics of hypocrisy cannot help the country reach its destination and the time has come to bury the politics of selfish interests forever.

Speaking on the occasion, Punjab CM Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said assured that he would come up to the expectations of the party as well as its leadership. He said that he will make his best efforts to discharge his responsibilities efficiently.

He said that the workers who faced oppression and brutalities during Musharraf dictatorship were a precious asset and he salutes their sacrifices.

"The caravan of PML-N led by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif is moving fast ahead and he is the hope of the people from Khyber to Karachi," he maintained.

Shahbaz Sharif held out assurance that he would reach every nook and corner of the province and fight for the rights of the people as well as implement the agenda of public service.

Senior Advisor Sardar Zulfiqar Ali Khan Khosa, Muslim League leader Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Syed Ghaus Ali Shah and Marvi Memon also addressed the function.
