The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, in collaboration with Ignite National Technology Fund and Alibaba Cloud, conducted a training session titled “AI for Public Sector Leaders” here on Tuesdsay at the National Incubation Centre.

The programme brought together federal secretaries, directors general, and senior government officials responsible for policymaking, public service delivery, the Digital Nation Pakistan agenda, and technology procurement, said a news release.

The initiative is designed to strengthen the capacity of senior public officials to understand, govern, and adopt artificial intelligence across government institutions.

Through expert-led sessions, practical demonstrations, and applied exercises, participants learned to identify suitable AI applications, improve institutional workflows, and develop solutions to real operational challenges.

The programme also addressed key considerations related to data privacy, accuracy, security, data sovereignty, and human oversight.

The training is the first in a planned series under the Digital Nation Pakistan agenda, advancing the vision of the Honourable Prime Minister of Pakistan.

Integrating AI capabilities into government institutions can help decision-makers process information more efficiently, improve the quality of decisions, strengthen institutional performance, and deliver more responsive services to citizens.

The programme provides senior officials with the practical knowledge required to adopt AI responsibly, safeguard public data, and translate the national Digital Nation Pakistan vision into measurable improvements across government.

Speaking on the significance of the training, Special Secretary (IT & Telecom) Syed Muhammad Ammar Naqvi said, “This training is a practical step toward the Government’s vision for a digitally empowered Pakistan. By bringing senior officials into direct engagement with AI tools, the IT Ministry is ensuring that our Digital Nation Pakistan agenda is driven by leaders who understand both its potential and its responsibilities”.

Participants received practical exposure to Alibaba Cloud’s AI ecosystem, including Qoder and QoderWork.

The training demonstrated how AI can support document summarisation, citizen response services, automated brief preparation, and the development of applications based on official government information.

Highlighting the central role of public sector leadership in Digital Nation Pakistan, CEO Ignite Muhammad Bilal Abbasi said, “With strong momentum already building through our academic and industry partnerships, including with Alibaba Group, and with today’s officers ready to take this forward, Pakistan is ready to surge ahead.”

The programme reflects the Government of Pakistan’s commitment to building an informed, responsible, and forward

looking public sector capable of using artificial intelligence to strengthen policy-making, improve institutional efficiency, and deliver better services to citizens.
