Intermittent rainfall continued across several districts of Sindh on Sunday, including Hyderabad, Mirpurkhas, Tharparkar, Badin, Thatta and Sujawal, with downpours triggering urban flooding, disrupting electricity supply and affecting daily life.

In Mirpurkhas, torrential rain inundated low-lying areas, with floodwater entering homes and shops after the city’s drainage system became overwhelmed.

Residents were seen trying to protect their properties using their own resources.

Electricity supply in parts of the city was also suspended after a fault developed in a high-tension transmission line.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said rain-bearing clouds remained active over southern and south-eastern Sindh, forecasting more rainfall in Tharparkar, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin and other parts of the province.

In Karachi, light rain was reported in several areas, including Quaidabad, Malir and Gulistan-e-Jauhar.

In Hyderabad and Tando Allahyar, intermittent rain brought relief from the heat but caused power outages after multiple electricity feeders tripped.

Tharparkar witnessed heavy rainfall that created flood-like conditions in several areas.

After heavy rains, the Mithi-Naukot Road and routes linking Islamkot and Diplo were submerged, while several low-lying localities remained under water.

At the Civil Hospital in Mithi, rainwater leaked through roofs and entered hospital wards, creating difficulties for patients and medical staff.

Continuous rainfall for nearly 20 hours was also reported in Umerkot and Tando Mohammad Khan, while several areas of Jamshoro and Badin were inundated by accumulated rainwater.

The PMD has advised residents to remain cautious as further rainfall is expected across southern Sindh over the coming days.
