Fresh monsoon showers lashed several suburban areas of Karachi on Saturday, bringing much-needed relief from the heat as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) forecast more rain in the city over the weekend.

Intermittent rain, accompanied by strong winds, was recorded in Gulshan-e-Maymar, while heavy showers also fell in Gulshan-e-Hadeed.

Scheme 33 and adjoining localities and Surjani Town also received rainfall, making the weather pleasant.

The latest spell follows overnight rain in several parts of the metropolis, including Sharea Faisal, Sohrab Goth, Defence Housing Authority, Defence View, Qayyumabad, North Nazimabad and Surjani Town, as monsoon activity remained active over the city.

The PMD has forecast partly cloudy weather with chances of light rain and thunderstorms in Karachi, while isolated heavy falls are expected in parts of Sindh as monsoon currents continue to affect the province.

Authorities have advised motorists to exercise caution on slippery roads and urged residents to stay updated on weather advisories as intermittent showers are expected to continue over the next two days.
