The federal and Balochistan governments have agreed to strengthen the province’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) and police force, while accelerating the implementation of a comprehensive security plan aimed at restoring lasting peace.

The decisions were taken during a high-level meeting on Balochistan’s law and order situation, jointly chaired by Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti.

The chief minister briefed the meeting on the province’s overall security situation, ongoing counterterrorism measures and future strategy.

Participants agreed to further enhance the professional capacity of the CTD and police, while expediting previously approved measures to strengthen the provincial police force. The Interior Ministry assured full cooperation in providing the required resources.

Naqvi said the federal government would continue extending every possible support to ensure sustainable peace in Balochistan.

He said the immediate and effective implementation of a master plan for restoring peace was the need of the hour, adding that the experience and expertise of former Balochistan police chiefs should be utilised in shaping the province’s security strategy.

The interior minister said modern technology, improved intelligence and a coordinated strategy were essential in the fight against terrorism.

CM Bugti said the government would remain one step ahead of terrorists on every front and would not bow to any pressure.

“The writ of the state will be upheld at all costs, and no space will be left for terrorists,” he said.

He added that peace, development and prosperity were closely linked, and the provincial government would pursue progress on both fronts simultaneously with the support of the federal government.
