Iran has warned that it would respond forcefully to any attack on its infrastructure after US President Donald Trump threatened to strike Iranian facilities in retaliation for attacks on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz.

Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi said Tehran’s defence policy was based on the principle of “an eye for an eye,” warning that any aggression against Iran would trigger a decisive response.

“Our defence doctrine is clear: eye for an eye. Any aggression against Iran, including our infrastructure, will compel a powerful and decisive response,” Araghchi wrote on X.

His remarks came after Washington threatened to bomb an Iranian bridge or power plant for every vessel targeted in the Strait of Hormuz, escalating tensions between the two countries.

Araghchi also warned that any country or entity assisting or supporting military action against Iran would be regarded as a legitimate target.

“Any entity that participates in or supports such aggression in any form will be considered a legitimate target,” he said.

The latest exchange of warnings underscores rising tensions in the Gulf, where threats to shipping and energy infrastructure have heightened fears of a broader regional confrontation.
