PM Shehbaz pledges federal support for Gilgit-Baltistan's development
1 min readPrime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to working closely with the newly elected government of Gilgit-Baltistan for the welfare and development of the area and its people.
During a meeting with newly elected Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Amjad Hussain at the PM House in Islamabad, the prime minister congratulated Amjad Hussain on assuming the office of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The prime minister said that the federal government was undertaking development initiatives in Gilgit-Baltistan in renewable energy, tourism, infrastructure, health, education, and other sectors.
He noted that the federal government’s flagship initiatives included a 100MW solar power project and the establishment of Daanish schools in the region.
He further said that the federal government was planning to establish a Pakistan Asaan Khidmat Centre in Gilgit to facilitate the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal, and Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema were also present at the meeting.
