Pakistan extends airspace ban on Indian aircraft until Aug 24
1 min readPakistan has extended its ban on Indian aircraft using its airspace until August 24, according to an advisory issued by the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) on Saturday.
The extension covers all Indian-registered aircraft, as well as planes owned, operated or leased by Indian airlines and operators, including military flights.
Pakistan first closed its airspace to Indian aircraft on April 23, 2025. The restriction has remained in force since May last year.
The prolonged closure has forced Indian airlines to divert many of their international flights, leading to longer routes, higher fuel consumption and increased operating costs.
The PAA said the latest extension was issued through an official advisory to aviation authorities and personnel involved in flight operations.
The prolonged restriction has particularly affected carriers such as Air India, whose long-haul flights to Europe and North America have faced mounting financial pressure due to the longer flight routes.
