Five killed as speeding vehicle hits motorcycle near Gambat

At least five people, including women and children, were killed and another injured after a speeding vehicle collided with a motorcycle on the National Highway near Gambat on Saturday, police said.

According to police, six members of the Jogi community were travelling on a single motorcycle, when they were struck by a fast-moving vehicle heading from Sukkur to Karachi.

The impact of the collision proved fatal, killing five people on the spot, while one person sustained injuries.

The deceased were identified as Sikandar Jogi, Fida Hussain and three others.

Rescue teams shifted the bodies and the injured victim to Ghulam Muhammad Mahar Medical College Hospital (GIMS) in Gambat.

Police said the driver of the vehicle, reportedly a Vigo pickup, was taken into custody and shifted to the Gambat police station for questioning.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to determine the exact circumstances that led to the crash.

Road accidents caused by speeding and traffic violations remain a major concern on Pakistan’s highways, often resulting in significant loss of life.
