Iran releases signed copy of peace deal, hails it as historic
3 min readIranian President Masoud Pezeshkian shared the signed copy of the peace agreement with the United States on social media, describing its key provisions as a historic milestone.
The document bears the signatures of US President Donald Trump, President Pezeshkian and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who facilitated the deal through Pakistan’s mediation.
According to the document, Iran and the US have agreed to a permanent ceasefire and the complete cessation of hostilities — a development being described as a significant step towards reducing tensions in the Middle East.
The agreement includes the full lifting of economic sanctions on Iran, while Tehran has given assurances that it will not develop nuclear weapons.
Frozen Iranian assets abroad are to be immediately unfrozen, a move expected to substantially ease the country’s financial difficulties.
On energy, the deal restores Iranian oil exports, a development likely to have ripple effects on global markets.
The agreement also references a $300 billion economic package for Iran, described as an extraordinary development for the country’s economy.
The US has also committed to reducing military tensions in the region, while both sides have indicated their intent to seek ratification under the United Nations framework for a final agreement.
A 60-day negotiating framework on Iran’s nuclear programme has also been established under the accord, alongside provisions for the restoration of maritime routes.
Sharing the signed copy on X, Pezeshkian wrote that lasting peace was only possible in the shadow of mutual respect. He said Iran had always been committed to global peace, development and regional cooperation and would continue to play its role in promoting stability.
“This text reflects the voice of a nation that did not compromise its dignity and freedom under any pressure or threat,” he said, adding that the progress recorded was the result of national resistance, political foresight and responsible diplomacy.
PM Shehbaz speaks to Pezeshkian
PM Shehbaz and President Pezeshkian held a telephone conversation lasting over 30 minutes, the first formal contact between the two leaders since the agreement was signed.
The prime minister congratulated Pezeshkian, the Iranian leadership and the people of Iran on the historic peace deal.
PM Shehbaz said the agreement would not only help establish peace in the region but would also contribute to Iran’s reconstruction and further strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and Iran across all areas of mutual interest.
President Pezeshkian, on behalf of the Iranian nation, extended special thanks to PM Shehbaz and Field Marshal Asim Munir, saying both had played a pivotal role in bringing the mediation process to a successful conclusion.
“Iran will always value this. Pakistan’s positive, constructive and sincere support during difficult times will never be forgotten,” he said.
The two leaders agreed to visit each other’s capitals at the earliest mutual convenience to further advance bilateral and regional cooperation.
