Five terrorists killed in CTD operation in Attock
1 min readAt least five alleged terrorists were killed in an intelligence-based operation conducted by the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) of Punjab on the outskirts of Attock district, a CTD spokesperson said on Tuesday.
According to the spokesperson, an intense exchange of fire took place between CTD personnel and terrorists during the operation.
The terrorists reportedly opened fire on the CTD team, prompting a swift retaliatory response.
In the ensuing gun battle, five militants were killed, while weapons, ammunition, hand grenades and explosive material were recovered from their possession, officials said.
The CTD said initial intelligence indicated that the slain militants had been planning major attacks in Punjab.
The operation was launched after receiving credible information about their presence in the area.
A search operation is currently underway in the border region of Attock to apprehend any facilitators or accomplices and to ensure no suspects managed to escape, the spokesperson added.
Authorities said identification of the slain militants has begun, and further investigations are ongoing.
Officials reiterated that operations against terrorism will continue across the province to maintain law and order and prevent any potential threats.
