Kuwait launches new visa service for workers and drivers, tightens eligibility rules
1 min readKuwait’s Ministry of Interior has introduced a new digital service, in coordination with the Public Authority for Manpower and its IT sector, allowing citizens and expatriates to manage domestic worker and driver-related applications online through the government’s unified “Sahel” app, according to KUNA.
The initiative is part of the country’s broader push to digitise government services, streamline recruitment procedures and reduce the need for in-person visits to service centres.
Officials said the platform is designed to simplify residency and labour-related transactions while improving efficiency and reducing processing times.
Alongside the digital rollout, the ministry also announced updated eligibility rules for sponsoring domestic workers and drivers.
Under the revised framework, single women are eligible to sponsor one domestic worker, while married, divorced or widowed women with children may sponsor one domestic worker and one driver.
Married, divorced or widowed men with families can sponsor up to three domestic workers and one driver, while single men are eligible to sponsor one driver only.
