The Punjab government has extended by 30 days the ban on flying drones in open areas across the province under Section 144, citing security concerns.

According to a notification issued by the Punjab Home Department, the prohibition on the use of drones in outdoor spaces will remain in force throughout the province.

However, limited use of small drones will be permitted during events held inside halls and marquees.

Organisers of such events will be responsible for ensuring the safe operation of drones within indoor venues.

The Home Department said the decision was taken in view of prevailing security concerns and to safeguard public safety, maintain law and order, and protect property.

The notification stated that intelligence agencies and law enforcement institutions will remain exempt from the restrictions.

The provincial home secretary said the ban has been imposed under Section 144(6) of the Code of Criminal Procedure, 1898.

The provincial administration and police have been directed to ensure strict implementation of the orders across Punjab.

The Punjab government reiterated that public safety, the maintenance of law and order, and the protection of property remain its top priorities.
