Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has issued a stern warning that no individual — regardless of status, position, or political affiliation — is above the law, as a harassment row involving PML-N MPA Saqib Chaddar and actor Momina Iqbal continues to escalate.

In a statement on X, Maryam Nawaz said: “The recent matter involving a PML-N Member of the Provincial Assembly and a prominent media personality is a personal issue and will be addressed strictly on merit and in accordance with the law. However, I want to make it absolutely clear that I will not spare anyone found involved in attempting to harass, threaten, or exploit a woman. No individual, regardless of status, position, or political connections, is above the law.”

She directed state institutions to perform their duties independently, impartially, and in accordance with the constitution and the law, adding: “Any attempt to exert political pressure, abuse influence, or exploit a woman through threats of releasing personal content publicly will be met with firm and uncompromising action. Consider this a clear and serious warning to anyone involved.”

Eid al-Azha arrangements

Separately, CM Maryam chaired a meeting on Eid al-Azha arrangements, issuing directives to all officials from deputy commissioners to district police officers.

She said arrangements must be exemplary and that no negligence would be tolerated.

A fine of Rs50,000 was announced for anyone found dumping animal remains or waste in streets, drains, or canals.

She also ordered action against livestock trading in unauthorised areas and directed strict security arrangements at cattle markets to prevent theft and robbery.
