Sindh announces four-day Eid al-Azha holidays from May 26
1 min readThe Sindh government has formally announced a four-day public holiday across the province for Eid al-Azha, issuing an official notification approved by Chief Secretary Asif Haider Shah.
According to the notification, public holidays will be observed from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29, 2026. The holidays will apply to all provincial government, semi-government bodies, and local bodies.
However, employees engaged in essential services and those involved in budget preparation, have been exempted.
The announcement follows a similar notification issued by the federal government two days earlier.
Under the federal calendar, Eid al-Azha holidays span three days — May 26, 27, and 28 — covering one day before Eid and two days of the festival itself.
Eid al-Azha will be observed in Pakistan on May 27, with the main Hajj ritual of Waquf-e-Arafat taking place on May 26.
Saudi Arabia, other Gulf countries, and Muslim communities in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and Europe will also observe Eid on May 27.
Malaysia, Indonesia, Turkey, and Tunisia are among other countries marking the occasion on the same date.
India and Bangladesh, however, will observe Eid al-Azha on Thursday, May 28.
