Actor Momina Iqbal appeared before the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) in Lahore on Thursday, submitting digital evidence, including alleged threatening messages of PML-N Member of Provincial Assembly Saqib Chaddar, her lawyer said.

The actor, accompanied by her lawyer, recorded her statement and handed over evidence related to alleged online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats, investigative sources said.

The questioning continued for several hours. Iqbal later left through a back exit as a large number of media representatives waited outside, sources added.

Speaking to reporters afterwards, Iqbal’s lawyer said Chaddar had formally sent a marriage proposal to the actor and wished to marry her as his third wife. The two had been in contact since 2022, he said.

“When Momina learned he was already married, she ended the relationship,” the lawyer said. “When her engagement was later announced elsewhere, the harassment began.”

The lawyer said Iqbal’s wedding would proceed as scheduled and expressed confidence she would receive justice. He also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz for taking notice of the matter.

Chaddar, who had not appeared despite being served notice, later presented himself at the NCCIA office where his questioning is ongoing, sources said.

The NCCIA had summoned both parties after receiving Iqbal’s online harassment complaint filed from Karachi.

Investigators will examine digital evidence, social media records and statements from both sides before deciding whether to register a formal case, sources said.

If allegations of verbal or online harassment are substantiated, the matter could be referred to police for formal proceedings, they added.

Iqbal had gone public two days earlier on Instagram, alleging she had faced prolonged online harassment, cyberbullying and death threats from an influential political figure.

She said she had filed complaints with the NCCIA, FIA and Punjab Police on multiple occasions, but no action was taken due to alleged political influence.

She had also called on CM Maryam and relevant authorities to conduct a transparent, impartial investigation and provide immediate security to her family.
