Security forces killed a senior Afghan militant commander of the proscribed Fitna al-Khawarij on Wednesday during an intelligence-based operation in the Arjam Kali area of Saranan, while an accomplice was arrested.

The slain militant, identified as Baseer, was the son of Afghan Khawarij commander Noorullah and had been a key planner of multiple attacks against security forces. He also served as the operational commander of militant formations attempting to infiltrate the Shaban area.

Acting on intelligence leads, security forces tracked Baseer from the Shaban region before neutralising him in the Arjam Kali operation on May 20.

Baseer had previously supervised a five-member suicide bomber cell of Fitna al-Khawarij, which was eliminated by security forces in Pishin on February 22, 2026.

Security officials have described his killing as a significant achievement in the ongoing campaign against terrorism. Operations under Azm-e-Istehkam against both Fitna al-Khawarij and Fitna al-Hindustan continue, officials said.
