Bangladesh moved above India to fifth place in the ICC World Test Championship standings after defeating Pakistan by 78 runs in the second Test in Sylhet, completing a 2-0 series sweep.

The hosts secured the series-clinching victory during the morning session on the final day, with Bangladesh’s bowlers taking the last three Pakistan wickets to deny the visitors a record chase of 437 runs, according to an ICC statement.

This series win marks Bangladesh’s first home series triumph over Pakistan and their second consecutive 2-0 sweep against the same opponents, following their victory in Pakistan in 2024.

The victory propels Bangladesh to fifth place on the World Test Championship table with a win-loss percentage of 58.33, while India drop to sixth.

Pakistan remain in the eighth place following the defeat, the statement added.
