Federal govt declares three-day holiday for Eid-ul-Azha

The federal government on Wednesday announced three-day public holidays for Eid-ul-Azha which will be observed across the country on May 27.

According to a notification issued by the Cabinet Division following approval from the Prime Minister’s Office, the holidays will be observed from Tuesday, May 26, to Thursday, May 28, 2026.

As part of the austerity measures adopted by the federal government, Friday is being observed as a weekly holiday, which will raise the total number of Eid-ul-Azha holidays to four.

As the public holidays will be followed by Saturday and Sunday, many people are expected to get an extended six-day break from May 26 to May 31.

Earlier, the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee announced that Eid-ul-Azha will be observed in Pakistan on Wednesday, May 27.
