Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder underwent a medical examination at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) for follow-up treatment of an eye condition, a hospital spokesperson said on Tuesday.

According to the spokesperson, the 74-year-old former prime minister was brought to the hospital on April 28 for a scheduled follow-up visit related to eye treatment, during which he received his fourth intravitreal injection.

The statement said an ophthalmology specialist conducted a full examination, and doctors confirmed that he was medically stable.

Test reports also showed improvement in his condition.

The injection was administered in an operation theatre under full medical precautions, the spokesperson added.

PIMS administration said that the PTI founder remained stable throughout the procedure and was discharged after the successful treatment with necessary instructions and follow-up advice.

The jail sources said he was shifted back to Adiala Jail early Tuesday morning after completion of the routine medical visit.
