Gilgit-Baltistan elections set for June 7, schedule announced
1 min readThe Election Commission Gilgit-Baltistan on Monday announced the schedule for general elections in Gilgit-Baltistan, with polling set for June 7, 2026.
Chief Election Commissioner Raja Shahbaz Khan formally issued the notification in Gilgit, outlining key stages of the electoral process.
Nomination papers will be submitted from April 16 to April 20, while the preliminary list of candidates will be published on April 21.
Scrutiny of nomination papers will be completed by April 28, and decisions on appeals will be finalised by May 9. Candidates will be allowed to withdraw their papers until May 11.
The final list of candidates, along with the allocation of election symbols, will be issued on May 12.
Speaking to the media, the chief election commissioner said all arrangements have been finalised to ensure free, fair, and transparent elections.
He added that voters would be provided maximum facilities to exercise their right, and all relevant institutions would work together to ensure a peaceful polling process.
