Trump sparks backlash with AI image portraying himself as Jesus
1 min readUS President Donald Trump has triggered widespread backlash after sharing an AI-generated image depicting himself as Jesus Christ, days after publicly criticising Pope Leo XIV.
The image, posted on Trump’s Truth Social platform, shows him in a Christ-like pose appearing to heal a man lying in a hospital bed.
The scene includes nurses, military personnel, and veterans gathered around him, with a glowing, heavenly backdrop.
Prominent US symbols — including the Statue of Liberty and the Lincoln Memorial — are visible in the background, alongside a large American flag, fighter jets, and eagles in the sky.

Online users quickly reacted, with many criticising the image as offensive and inappropriate.
Some described the move as “blasphemous,” while others labelled it an “antichrist” gesture, reflecting the intensity of the backlash across social media platforms.
The controversy comes shortly after Trump’s sharp remarks targeting Pope Leo XIV, further fuelling criticism of the post and its timing.
Trump has not issued an official response to the backlash.
