The government has withdrawn the 25 percent quarterly increase in toll tax on Friday, offering relief to the public amid economic pressure.

Acting on special instructions of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan announced the decision to scrap the planned increase.

According to the Ministry of Communications, the government has decided not to raise toll tax during the fiscal year 2025-26 in view of the current economic situation.

Officials said the move aims to provide maximum relief to citizens and reduce financial pressure.

The government added that further steps will be taken to ease public hardship and control inflation.
