Punjab is considering the use of artificial intelligence and portable ultrasound machines to improve maternal and child health, provincial authorities said on Tuesday.

A meeting chaired by Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Imran Nazir discussed a proposal to integrate AI-based tools into community outreach programs.

Officials said the initiative aligns with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of bringing modern medical technology to the community level, particularly for pregnant women.

Khawaja Imran Nazir said a pilot project will be launched in various districts in the first phase, focusing on remote and underdeveloped areas.

He added that the program aims to reduce complications and deaths during childbirth and strengthen the provincial health system.
