PDMA issues heavy rain alert across Punjab
1 min readThe Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an alert, warning of heavy rains across most districts of the province from tomorrow (Wednesday), with the downpours expected to continue until April 4.
According to the PDMA, rains are expected in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Jhelum, Chakwal, Talagang, and Gujranwala, as well as in Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sargodha, Mianwali, Sheikhupura, Gujrat, Khushab, and Mandi Bahauddin.
Major cities, including Lahore, Sialkot, Narowal, Faisalabad, Jhang, Chiniot, Bhakkar, Layyah, and Dera Ghazi Khan, are also expected to experience rainfall, the PDMA added.
A PDMA spokesperson highlighted a possible increase in the flow of rainwater drains in Dera Ghazi Khan and the Suleman Range.
In line with the Punjab chief minister’s instructions, alerts have been issued to commissioners, deputy commissioners, district administrations, and rescue agencies for precautionary measures.
Citizens are advised to stay in safe locations to avoid lightning.
Tourists visiting northern areas should take precautionary measures, the PDMA added.
The PDMA also warned of a risk of landslides in mountainous regions and urged the public to contact helpline 1129 in case of emergencies.
