The UAE is preparing for one last bout of unstable weather, with heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hail expected through Friday, March 27, the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) said.

Authorities have issued safety alerts and urged residents to remain cautious before conditions improve from Saturday, with clearer skies and cooler temperatures forecast.

The NCM reported that the country remains under the influence of a surface and upper-air low-pressure system, causing partly cloudy to cloudy conditions, convective clouds, and scattered rainfall of varying intensity across the UAE.

Residents are advised to take preventive measures against mosquito infestations by eliminating standing water, ensuring proper drainage, and keeping yards clean.

The NCM also issued a convective cloud alert from 10:45am to 2:45pm on Thursday, marking the peak storm activity period.

Airlines warn of possible flight delays as heavy rain and strong winds hit UAE

Airlines, including Emirates, Etihad, Flydubai, and Air Arabia, have issued advisories urging travellers to check flight schedules, as heavy rain and strong winds could affect airport operations.

Dubai Metro stations have reinforced barriers at entrances as part of the city’s proactive weather response plan.

The lowest temperature recorded on Thursday morning was 12°C at Jais Mountain (Ras Al Khaimah), while coastal areas are expected to reach highs of around 31°C, with inland areas peaking at 33°C.

Temperatures are forecast to gradually decline later in the week.

Dubai Civil Defence is carrying out major operations under an integrated plan to protect residents and property during adverse weather.

Meanwhile, Ras Al Khaimah Police have urged motorists to drive carefully, maintain safe distances, avoid flood-prone areas, and stay away from the sea and beaches.

For assistance, authorities advise calling 999 for emergencies or 901 for non-emergencies.
