Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, on Saturday, warned that Afghan territory must not be used for hostile activities against Pakistan, as he celebrated Eid al-Fitr with troops deployed in the Kurram district.

According to the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Field Marshal visited forward positions in Kurram, where he offered Eid prayers alongside officers and soldiers and prayed for the country’s stability and prosperity.

During his interaction with troops, the Field Marshal extended Eid greetings and commended their “unwavering dedication, high morale, and exemplary professionalism” in safeguarding national security.

Firm warning on cross-border militancy

Delivering a strong message, Field Marshal Munir stressed that militant groups operating from sanctuaries across the border in Afghanistan would not be allowed to undermine Pakistan’s peace.

“Afghan soil must not be used by hostile elements for activities against Pakistan,” he said, reaffirming Islamabad’s stance on cross-border terrorism.

He added that Pakistan’s armed forces remain committed to neutralising threats emanating from across the border and ensuring lasting peace in frontier regions.

Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq highlighted

The Field Marshal praised the performance of troops during Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq, describing it as a key effort to dismantle terrorist networks and stabilise border areas.

He lauded the “valour and spirit” of soldiers involved in the operation, noting that their efforts had delivered significant gains against militant groups.

Field Marshal Munir also paid tribute to the sacrifices of martyrs, saying operational successes were made possible through their “supreme sacrifices” and the continued resolve of serving personnel.

Commitment to regional stability

Reiterating Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, the Field Marshal emphasised that stability in border areas remains a top priority.

He expressed confidence in the armed forces’ ability to defend the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, adding that troops’ resilience reflects the nation’s broader resolve.

“The armed forces remain fully committed to defending Pakistan against all threats,” he said.

Warm reception in Kurram

Upon arrival, the army chief was received by the Corps Commander Peshawar.

The visit comes amid ongoing security operations in tribal districts bordering Afghanistan, where Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns over militant safe havens across the frontier.

The Eid visit underscores the military leadership’s continued engagement with frontline troops and its focus on maintaining operational readiness in sensitive regions.
