Hundreds of militants killed in cross-border operation
2 min readPakistan’s federal government says hundreds of Afghan Taliban fighters have been killed during cross-border military operations as part of Operation Ghazab-lil-Haq.
In a statement posted on the social media platform X on Friday, Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar released updated figures on the ongoing operation carried out by the Pakistan Armed Forces.
According to Tarar, 663 militants have been killed and 887 wounded during retaliatory actions against militant positions in Afghanistan.
He said Pakistan launched a major phase of the operation during the night between March 12 and 13, targeting militants inside Afghanistan following what officials described as unprovoked aggression along the border.
Tarar added that 249 Afghan Taliban checkpoints had been destroyed, while Pakistani forces seized and demolished 44 additional posts during the operation.
The minister also said Pakistani forces had destroyed 224 tanks, armoured vehicles and artillery guns belonging to the Afghan Taliban regime.
According to the statement, airstrikes targeted around 70 locations inside Afghanistan used by militants and their support networks.
Security sources said Pakistani airstrikes also destroyed an ammunition depot linked to Afghanistan’s 313 Corps in Kabul.
Officials said the depot had been used by Taliban fighters and other militant groups to store weapons and explosives.
Authorities added that video footage of the strikes showed the ammunition facility being precisely targeted, rejecting claims in Afghan and Indian media that civilian areas were attacked.
Pakistan says the operation began after cross-border aggression by the Afghan Taliban along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border and will continue until its objectives are achieved.
