Punjab issues fuel-saving advisory, urges businesses to adopt work-from-home
1 min readThe Punjab government has issued a new advisory aimed at conserving fuel and energy, urging businesses to allow employees to work from home wherever possible.
According to the directive, private and corporate offices have been instructed to call only essential staff to workplaces, while the majority of employees should be allowed to perform their duties remotely.
Authorities also directed offices to exercise caution in electricity and energy consumption. The advisory calls for limited use of air conditioners and other electrical appliances to reduce overall energy demand.
In addition, businesses have been asked to restrict the use of transport and avoid unnecessary travel as part of the province’s broader fuel conservation policy.
Officials said the measures were introduced in view of the prevailing regional situation and rising energy pressures, stressing the need to minimise non-essential transportation and fuel consumption.
However, the advisory clarified that the new guidelines will not apply to factories, which will continue their operations without these restrictions.
